"We had a superb holiday this January in the Cider Press Barn. The location was ideal for us as it is nestled in glorious countryside with walks from the doorstep, further afield there are black and white villages and interesting places to visit in every direction. The property itself is particularly well appointed and was spotlessly clean. There were some very welcome treats upon arrival as well. The bedrooms are delightful and the spa bathroom a real bonus. We would stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking for a holiday property in the Hay-on-Way / Leominster areas."
January 2016 We stayed here with friends and the house is beautiful and also the surroundings The owners are lovely people Will come back for sure. (via Facebook)
October 2015 "We have just spent a week in Cider Press Barn which we thought was fabulous. The Barn was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and decorated and finished off to a very high spec. We thought that the property was very well equiped and we loved the luxurious spa bathroom. The location is perfect for peace and quiet but easy and not far to go to various different places all within an easy drive.
Overall a very pleasant holiday, very relaxing and a very welcome and comfortable Barn. We would love to return."
September 2015 "The Cider Press barn is a splendid place to stay: spotless, modern, with every possible amenity.......... The barn was the best 'cottage' we have rented and feel we really lucked out choosing it. Thank you."
July 2015 "We had a very enjoyable time at Cider Press Barn recently (two adults and two teenaged sons). It was lovely to be surrounded by farmland and to be able to see cows from our bedroom window and that this did not come with any associated smells!
Rosie, the owner was friendly and had provided a lovely barn conversion with quality furnishings and comfortable beds. The large bathroom with sauna was a sight to behold and one we all preferred to use. There was a good supply of various pots and pans to cook with and the welcome pack of basic items like milk, bread, butter and eggs was nice to see. There is no local shop but it is only a five minute drive to Weobley to get emergency provisions as well as look at Weobley's "black and white" historical buildings. Mobile phone reception was patchy at best and the wi-fi only really worked in the seating area downstairs but that didn't concern us much (but we mention it as it may be more important to other people).
We had some lovely evenings playing Scrabble on the enormous old oak table. We had never been to this part of England before and found it to be a revelation - the countryside is absolutely beautiful and there is plenty to see and do - we would especially recommend Goodrich Castle and the stunning views from Symonds Yat of the River Wye."
June 2015 "We had a wonderful holiday at cider press barn. The rural setting and tranquil environment led to a totally relaxing and rejuvenating break!
The huge barn was beautifully converted and was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the large range oven didn't look like it had ever been used. The games selection was extensive as were the magazines.
The courtyard was a real sun-trap. Lovely to relax with a book and listen to the birds. There was also an additional table and chairs provided in the orchard. 2 bbq's are provided. The small charcoal one was adequate for the 3 of us but a large gas one was also made available.
The bedrooms had tea and coffee facilities which was a real treat in the mornings with en suite facilities to luxuriate in. The spa wet room which doubled as an en suite for the 2nd bedroom was enormous! The jacuzzi bath and Sauna were delightful and were inside the spa wet room so it was easy to shower without having to change rooms.
The welcome pack was good. So nice to arrive to tea, coffee, bread, butter & eggs! The surrounding countryside was breathtakingly beautiful with plenty to see & do. Locals and owners very friendly and welcoming. Lots of great pubs serving good food too - all of which were dog friendly. Will definitely be recommending for a great holiday!!! "
May 2015 "We very much enjoyed our stay in the Cider Press Barn, the welcome pack of bread, eggs, milk and delicious cake was very much appreciated. Personally, I really did not want the bother of a wood burning stove to provide a decent level of heat in the evenings and was fortunate that my brother in law who was with us was quite happy to take on the chore of lighting and looking after it.
This is the first time that I have stayed anywhere to find that the ensuite bathroom was bigger than the bedroom, definitely ‘’over the top’’ as far as we were concerned! Mrs Davidson was very welcoming and we would definitely recommend the Cider Press Barn to our friends."
April 2015 "Cider Press barn is lovely. The owner was very welcoming and the welcome pack was a lovely touch especially the homemade produce. The bedding is lovely quality and the decor is very nice and uncluttered............ We would not hesitate booking again Cider Press barn and have already recommend it; the same applies to country holiday lets."
February 2015 "We had a most enjoyable week at Cider Press Barn in January. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and finished to a very high standard. The home made cake waiting for us on arrival was a nice touch and the wood burner ensured cosy evenings. A great base to explore the area in a very peaceful setting. Would definitely return."
Sept 2014 "we had a lovely time thank you the barn was wonderful and exactly as show in the brochures the owner was very helpful and looked after us the accommodation was fabulous and the location great for exploring the beautiful surroundings we would thoroughly recommend it"
Aug 2014 "We had a great time a Cider Press Barn.Rosie was so helpful with info and maps for some hikes, lovely welcome pack, very clear instructions for everything in the barn, dogs and kids felt welcome and at home straight away. The barn itself is fantastic, beautifully done, with everything you could need- and more! The booking and payment process is very straightforward, and I had a very quick response to my query. Directions were spot on, and the info pack/ booklet in the barn was really helpful. We would definitely look to come again for some walking in the area."
May 2014 "we really loved this barn and everything was so nice, lovely people surroundings everything perfect"
March 2014 "Cider Press Barn was simply outstanding and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We hope to rebook in the near future. We rent 2-3 cottages per year and this one has exceeded all others and set a very high bench mark. It's in an idyllic location - super quiet yet beautiful views and walks to be had right from the doorstep of the barn. Inside, the barn is stunning - spacious, very well equipped and decorated to a an extremely high standard. The luxury spa bath/sauna room did not disappoint and is a real selling point. The place was immaculate throughout and the beds, furniture, etc. very comfortable. The owners are lovely too. We had a problem on the second night with the oven and they were straight over to fix. I'd give this rental 10/10. A mark I've never yet awarded!"
October 2013 "Very well equipped and comfortable cottage. We were 2 but it would be fine for 4. Good directions, parking at the door and the owner left a cake!"
September 2013 "Excellent accommodation, in fact by far the best we've experienced in a modern barn conversion. The location is ideal for touring the many picturesque villages and the local pubs offer excellect food at reasonable prices. We would have no hesitation in booking again or recommending to others. Well done."
September 2013 "Greeted on our arrival with a very warm welcome by the owner. We had very enjoyable weeks stay with by daughter and son-in-law at the Cider Press Barn, the interior was modern, had a lovely relax atmosphere and homely feel, a lot of thought and care had gone into it. Although in a rural location was very easy to get to place like Hay on Wye, Hereford and other places with a lot of historical places to visit and walking along the Offa's dyke. Cider Press Barn is fantastic place to stay"
August 2013 "We enjoyed our holiday to the Cider Press Barn very much, the area was lovely (particularly Hay on Wye) and the barn was of a good standard with some amazing features..... Thank you for your help and thank you to Rosie for the lovely welcome hamper."
August 2013 "...We did enjoy staying in your lovely barn. It is in a great setting. We were unfamiliar with Herefordshire and enjoyed visiting the area. Being lucky with the weather helped too, it was so peaceful sitting in your courtyard without any traffic noise. The welcome pack was indeed welcome and the cake lovely. I am back at work now and it is currently raining here, so already the holiday starts to fade."
June 2013 "Cider Press Barn was a very enjoyable place to stay in, the owner made us very welcome and was very helpful with local knowledge. The Barn itself was very comfortable and clean and the welcome pack of eggs, butter, milk and bread was a great help......it was a enjoyable place to stay and would certainly recommend it to others and stay there again ourselves."
April 2013 "Once again we had a lovely stay at cider press barn Everything was wonderful- no problems and beautifully relaxing. Thanks."
August 2012 "We had intended to complete one of your feedback forms but didn't quite get round to it on the last evening as we were enjoying one last pamper session in the sauna!!......."
July 2012" ......The Cider Press Barn was faultless and we will be back soon we hope!"
July 2012 " We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cider Press Barn. We went in April also so knew what to expect but still made the most of the impressive spa facilities. Rosemary and David seem lovely warm and welcoming people. All in all I hope we will be back!
May 2012 "Very happy to say we all had a very enjoyable time at Cider Press. The Barn exceeded our expectations and both Rosie and Andrew have the right balance of not interferring but being available for any problems.......The Cider Press Barn was very well furnished and the welcome goodies much appreciated. We enjoyed using the enclosed patio area which is in the sun until late."
May 2012 "We were very impressed by the very comfortable surroundings and the 'hotel like luxury feel' of the wet room and sauna in particular. The kitchen was also very well equipped and of a much higher standard than you would normally expect in a holiday let........We had a very relaxing week despite very wet weather. The very efficient log burner gives the place a lovely warm feel. We would return."
April 2012 "We absolutely loved Cider Press Barn-so much so we have booked again in July! The barn was in a beautiful area-great for walking. It was one of the best self catering places I have stayed in. Very welcoming with food pack on arrival and lovely emails/phone call prior to our arrival from the owner. The accommodation was great with the beautiful spa area to relax in after our long walks and lovely views. Extras like Sky TV and wifi were much appreciated."
Nov 2011 "We did enjoy our time at Cider Press Barn greatly. Rosie was most friendly and helpful and the accommodation was superb. We mentioned a couple of small additions we felt the kitchen needed and Rosie was most positive. No problems at all ~ except having to leave it !!"
Oct 2011"A brief note to say that we greatly enjoyed our stay in the Cider Press Barn. The accommodation was every bit as good as the web photos had suggested and we couldn't have wished for better facilities. Anyone wishing to stay there will not be disappointed and we already have relatives who hope to visit next year! Together with lovely hosts and wonderful places to visit the Cider Press Barn is the place to stay!"
Sept 2011 "...we enjoyed our stay immensely. The Barn is extremely well appointed and comfortable, and the owners attentive but by no means intrusive. We were made to feel very welcome (the home-made cake and marmalade helped!) and have already recommended Cider Press Barn to family and friends.."
Sept 2011 "We are more than happy to send feedback on our stay at the Cider Press Barn. When we found your website we were very impressed with the beautiful properties you listed and would have happily booked several of them. What we have found whilst looking for a property was that there were many places which offered only one double and then a twin which could be made up as a double. Although we understand that this gives more rental options we were not keen on one couple having a lovely double whilst the other was in a smaller twin.
We were extremely impressed with the way the owners of the Cider Press had approached this by having a large en suite double room and a slightly smaller twin which could be made up as a double but with the amazing en suite with spa bath and sauna. This made the barn an ideal option for two couples and made up our mind that this was the ideal property.
We certainly weren't let down, the Cider Press Barn surpassed our expectations and was an amazing place to stay. The luxury en suite was out of this world and we all enjoyed the sauna. The twin beds had been made up as a super king and was extremely comfortable. Often, when a twin is made up as a double, you find yourself falling down the middle but Rosie, the owner of the barn, had used some kind of gadget to connect the beds which prevented this which was ideal.
We found the open plan living space downstairs fantastic and the general appearance of the barn was homely yet stylish. On arrival the property was spotless and beautifully presented with fresh flowers on the table. The kitchen provided all the necessary equipment for staying in and cooking which was once of the things we were looking forward to as the nearby towns had some fantastic food shops. On our arrival there was milk, butter, eggs, bread, a bottle of wine and a home baked cake as well as teabags and coffee which was a really lovely touch and meant that we could get settled in straight away.
The owners of the barn Rosie and Andrew were really friendly and helpful. They welcomed us on arrival and were on hand for any questions we may have had but, although they live in the adjoining property, we still felt we had our privacy. We appreciated the facility to recycle and very much enjoyed feeding our scraps to the pigs! All in all we had a fantastic few days in a wonderful property owned by lovely people and friendly animals. We would recommend Country Holiday Lets to anyone and especially the Cider Press Barn. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. I'm sure we'll be back."
Sept 2011 "Can't speak highly enough about Rosie and Andrew's Cider Press Barn. Delightful, helpful hosts. Great set up. Hope to go again."
Aug 2011"It was a seriously great place to stay....we have used a number of companies and stayed in a number of houses....but this was marvellous! I struggle to be critical of anything ~ welcome was great, even had home baked cake awaiting us!......Would definitely want to return as bathroom a joy to behold!... "
Aug 2011 "My family and I loved this place ... Felt really comfortable and treated well by Rosie and her family (and pets) The atmosphere and comfort level was excellent. A great base for surrounding area. I will try and return later in the year... It was that nice.........."
Aug 2011 "We had a lovely time very relaxing we hope to go again in october...."
About Cider Press Barn
Cider Press Barn is a beautiful converted barn attached to the owner's black and white cottage situated close to Hay on Wye, Hereford, Leominster, Kington and Ludlow. Cider Press Barn has been designed to allow maximum light. The rooms are spacious and sunny and have been comfortably and tastefully furnished; with natural stone floors on the ground floor, in the spa bathroom and en suite.
The barn accommodates four people. In winter months the woodburning stove is complimented by the underfloor heating providing a warm atmosphere that will ensure a perfect winter break, no matter what the weather.
Cider Press Barn is located in a very rural location directly on a quiet bridleway with the owner's 16th Century home next door. However there are several country pubs within walking distance, such as the Kinnersley Arms in Kinnersley. It is quite remote and therefore a car is an absolute necessity to get there and to enable you to explore the area properly, but the peace and tranquility this affords is fabulous.
The holiday let is in a good location to explore South Shropshire, Herefordshire and Wales. There are several market towns a short drive away all with historic interest: Shrewsbury , Ludlow, Leominster and Hereford. There is a photo gallery for Hay on Wye. Other towns of interest are Clun and Bishop’s Castle with its local Brewery The Three Tuns, perfect for Real Ale lovers.
