A Rural Escape with A Historic Twist
The accommodation is split over three levels. On entering Primrose, there is a hallway. At the other end to the left is a door to a bedroom with an en suite shower. On the right is a double bedroom with the en suite, featured below. Off the hallway is the stairs to the first floor. On the first floor is a large open plan Sitting/Dining/Kitchen area. The kitchen is well fitted with all the modern equipment you would expect.
New leather sofas have been recently arranged but do not yet feature in the photographs lending added comfort and quality.
The Dining area is fantastic and seats 12 people great for families or large groups of friends. The sitting area, with the cosy woodburner as a focal point is generous in size and has wonderful vaulted ceilings. A full basket of logs is provided, extra logs are available for a nominal charge should you require them. Off the sitting room, is the staircase leading up to the second floor. At the top of the stairs straight ahead of you is the en suite shower room. To the left are the four single beds. The family room is large in size and ideal if you have children they can have a floor all to themselves!. Quality duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels are provided. Cot and high chair available on request.
Primrose has many original features that are a delight to discover as you wander around all original to the building which dates to around the 14th Century. For a large family or a group of friends Primrose is perfect giving you the flexibility of accommodation to suit most needs.
If you are looking for somewhere different to stay for your holiday, Primrose is perfect. The complex of lets here mix the modern and the old beautifully, to give guests the best of both worlds. Each of the lets has something different to offer and they are great for large groups or families wishing to holiday together but have their own space.
Whatever the weather or season there are lots of attractions and activities in the area to keep everyone happy. A rural escape with an historic twist.
One well behaved dog might be welcome (more might be acceptable by arrangement), if you are staying with your dog there are a few basic rules; do not leave your dog unattended either in the let or the garden, please clean up any mess your dog makes either in the garden or village, please do not allow the dog into the bedrooms or on the furniture. Changeover days are any day of the week, short breaks are Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday. If you require a short break for other days please contact us to find out availability (minimum of 3 night stay). A £100 security deposit will be requested on arrival as surety against any damages. This will be refunded by cheque within one week following an inspection after your departure. When choosing dates, please select the duration of your stay on the drop down menu above the calendar, then float and click the pointer over the desired starting date. Your choice should appear below the calendar.
Arrival after 3.00pm please and departure before 10.00am. All bookings carry a booking fee of £35.00 already included in the advertised price, unless it is a repeat booking at the same cottage within three years, then there is no booking fee charge. The Area Around Primrose
The holiday let is in a good location to explore South Shropshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Wales. There are several market towns, all with historic interest:, Ludlow, Leominster and Hereford. There is a photo gallery for Hay on Wye and Gloucester. Other towns of interest are Clun and Bishop’s Castle with its local Brewery The Three Tuns, perfect for Real Ale lovers.
Smaller places, such as Dymock and Kempley are well worth a visit as well as Ledbury, Gloucester and Worcester. Near by is The Forest of Dean and further away is The Malverns and The Brecon National Park
The river Wye is about five minutes walk away and two pubs are within walking distance. Above is Goodrich Castle and within 10 minutes drive you can visit Symonds Yat one of the key locations and mentioned in the famous Picturesque tour of the Wye which was the World's first tourist book.
There are some extraordinarily beautiful views of the river, fishing, canoeing and a choice of superb walks. The Forest of Dean is near-by and further afield is Hereford, Ross, Hay on Wye. You can drive to further down the valley of the Wye to the beautiful and haunting Tintern Abbey mentioned in Wordsworth's Prelude.
Primrose is in a converted medieval building, sitting below Goodrich Castle , near Ross on Wye in South Herefordshire. There are nine lets in total, all of the lets have the character expected from old buildings. A fabulous position and great for exploring the areas of outstanding natural beauty surrounding it, Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.
Five minutes walking from the River Wye. Coarse and fly fishing are available, depending on the season. There are 4 stretches of the river. Booking should be in advance and is subject to availability, with a maximum of 4 rods per stretch.
Goodrich Castle is an easy walk away and there are many other historical castles and churches locally worth exploring. Symonds Yat, Symonds Yat Rock and Symonds Yat East are popular walking and viewing points that are easily reached from Primrose. Walking, Cycling, Riding, White Water Rafting and Canoeing are all close by for the more active. For those wishing for a more sedate break there's antique hunting in the local market towns, book browsing at Hay and many local artisan studios are within easy reach.
