Origins

The Directors set up the company in early 2010 to offer a better more flexible local service in what has, until recently, been an area of the UK virtually unknown to the vast majority.  The challenge proved more than we thought but, by constantly modifying our business model, we have adapted and moulded the company to what the market is demanding.

Guests want a good selection of cottages and enjoy looking through what is available.   This caused us to radically improve the web site in early 2012 to accommodate a growing number of cottages and to better sell what they have to offer.  The undertaking was involved.  No adequate software was available on the market, so development was necessary which is never an easy task.  It took about a year, from start to 'going live' and work is still in process.

High quality cottages do not compete as well as they could unless they can show off with the help of good photographs aided by a good search facility.  This environment shows up every weakness and benefits quality whilst revealing poor offerings.  Good presentation is the friend of quality and the enemy of substandard offerings.

The Directors have a long history of working in highly competitive service orientated businesses in London and around the country.  They moved to the area about ten years ago and now relish the new challenge.  It is a real privilege to be paid to visit some of the most beautiful places in the UK.  Perhaps, the only drawback is that the demands of work mean that it is often impossible to do them justice by simple appreciation.

Business approach

We strongly believe in local relationships as well as doing our level best to ensure a good holiday for all guests and visitors.  We know that reputation is the very core of our business.  However, equally important are our relationships with homeowners; in this respect, we are working hard to do much more than some of the larger legacy agencies currently manage.

Innovation

We strongly believe in sharing information as freely as possible restricting it, only, on the basis of the need not to know.  This method radically increases our ability to learn and improve our service by engaging with others in a positive way.  Our recent major web site and back office development, undertaken by www.logichound.com, was inspired by all that we have learnt from forums, feedback, discussions and by learning from competitors providing similar services.  But, our most important source of information was from the homeowners who use our service.

They wanted to be treated as individual businesses.  They did not want their prices to be forced into bands.  They want good presentation and expect us to market their properties with significant internet advertising.  They expect, rightly, to be kept well informed and to be treated with the respect all good operators deserve and require as much flexibility as possible.  All of our members benefit from the facility to take private bookings they wish without any calls for payment from us.  We believe in payment by results and feel any attempt at exclusivity of any sort is an unnecessary approach which can damage sound commercial relationships between our service and homeowners.

We value our relationships with homeowners as much as we value good service to all guests.
