The Garden Cottage

Situated in the lovely small village on the Worcestershire/Shropshire Border, The Garden Cottage is ideally placed to explore all three counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.  The Garden Cottage benefits from being in a small village with a Country Inn virtually on the doorstep serving great food and having much historic detail.  The extensive gardens are the main feature of this cottage and are beautiful to explore, a real haven, although still under renovation, the garden is a joy.  For walkers this area is made to measure with a huge number of walks close by, easy to travel to Ludlow, Leominster, Hereford, Malvern and Worcester.

Description

Just before you get to the main centre on the South side of the village, round the back of the Country Inn, is the entrance to the Garden Cottage.  There are quite a few steps up to the bungalow as it is set on a hillside, but once inside everything is on the level, apart from a small step down into the sitting room.  You enter into the main hallway, the kitchen is in front of you and the shower room to the right, to the left is the twin bedroom, double bedroom and the sitting room/conservatory.

The area surrounding the bungalow is fantastic walking country and only a short drive to many places of historical interest or the shops, depending on what interests you. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the country and The Garden Cottage is a perfect base from which to explore.  The Inn next door dates back to 1875 and has some interesting features such as flemish stained glass and wonderful wood carvings including a magnificent fireplace.  The Inn serves wonderful food and is an easy option if you do not feel like cooking your evening meal.

If you are looking for a rural retreat not far from the centre of England then this is definitely the right place, wonderful scenery all year round and right in the heart of the countryside.

Some of the local attractions and activities here and in the bordering counties can be found  on our Attractions , Where to Eat and Events Calendar pages.

Reviews

June 2011

"I would like to say that we enjoyed our holiday very much. The Garden Cottage provided everything we needed in facilities and comfort that we hoped for. The Pub served up a very varied and substantial menu and the hosts were most hospitable and helpful"

Aug 2010

"Thoroughly enjoyed our week in The Garden Cottage.  Directions were fine; cottage as expected, clean and adequately equipped; pub handy and friendly; when we needed help with the DVD player, it was immediately forthcoming.  We would recommend the cottage to anyone"
