The NGS have lots of open gardens in this area including those at Powis Castle and Hergest Croft .
The towns of Clun , Bishop's Castle and Ludlow all have a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes Take a look at our Events Calendar for more details. For eating out see our Where to Eat pages and for local attractions visit the Attractions page.

Coachman's Cottage is a fantastic Writers retreat and has been used as such in the past, the stunning scenery and the Black Hill cannot fail to inspire any writer. The local area features in Bruce Chatwin's 'On the Black Hill'. Coachman's is certainly a home from home and with a warm welcome this will be a holiday you will long remember.
As Coachman's is quite remote a car is a necessity to get to the shops and pubs, however if you are keen on walking you can park up and walk everywhere from here, superb gentle strolls or long hikes this has something for everyone.

"We enjoyed our stay in Coachman's Cottage very much. It was so peaceful and the cottage was very well equipped and I cannot think of anything else we needed. It felt very home from home. No complaints at all. Shropshire is a very beautiful County and Clun is an excellent area for walking. Thank you very much and we hope to visit the area again"

"my husband and I had a wonderful holiday. The cottage was superb and in a stunning location, so peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed to unwind. The owners were warm welcoming and helpful and we would definately love to stay there again. We have had many cottage holidays over the years , but we both agreed this was the best we had stayed at. Thank you for all your help"

March 2011
"I had a brilliant time at the Coachmans Cottage, it was so comfortable, clean, warm, well furnished and with an excellent shower (one of my key criteria!!). I've had a couple of "bad" cottages recently so it was good to get a cottage that was perfect for my holiday. The owners (and their dogs!) are charming, helpful and very welcoming including the bottle of wine and daffodils, the setting was so peaceful with lovely views and weather to match. I would recommend the cottage to anyone and would definately like to go back. I also really liked all the maps, walking books and general information on Shropshire that were in the cottage, so helpful when new to the area. I can't think of anything that needs to be improved or changed and the service I received from your company was excellent as well."

"I don't usually respond to these things (because I'm an old grump, I suppose) but the holiday at Coachman's Cottage was so good that I feel compelled to write .....The accommodation was really excellent, and very good value for money. The location was stunning, and we had a wonderfully relaxing week. I will almost certainly book the same accommodation for a peaceful break next year.
Sept 2010
"The cottage was fantastic, so well presented and so very comfortable. The time seemed to stand still, due entirely to the relaxing atmosphere of both the cottage and surrounding countryside. An inspirational kitchen garden to look at and enjoy - everything was an absolute delight. Our first break for many years but one we shall repeat thanks to finding you on-line. All being well we shall be in touch in early 2011 to sample one of your other cottages
such is your high standard."

"We were extremely impressed with the cottage and the whole area. The standard of decoration, furnishing and cleanliness at the cottage was excellent, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The wine left in the fridge for us was excellent quality - and has now become a regular in our shopping trolley!
The picked flowers from the garden was a lovely touch, and we would have no hesistation in recommending the cottage to our friends."
