Bailey Barn is situated in an ancient village near Pembridge in the Welsh Marches area of North Herefordshire. It is a barn, attached at the corner, to the owner's house that has been beautifully converted, into comfortable and characterful accommodation. Bailey has access to the owner's three acre grounds in which it is set, with use of the Swimming Pool and Astro Turf Tennis courts by arrangement. The name originates from the barn being built in the bailey of a mott and bailey castle, dating back to the Norman Conquest.
Bailey is suitable for a quiet country escape at any time of year, however it is on the first floor and so may not be suitable for those for whom stairs are difficult. During the winter months central heating provides a warm, cosy atmosphere that will ensure a perfect winter break. There are several market towns a short drive away all with historic interest: Pembridge, Ludlow, Leominster, Hereford and Hay on Wye .
Although situated in an ancient village, the nearest shops, restaurants and pubs are in Pembridge, a beautiful black and white village. Pembridge is an important village on the black and white village trail. Bailey is the ideal base for exploring some of the area's leading attractions: Croft Castle (National Trust), Berrington Hall (National Trust), Croft Ambrey Hillfort, which is Iron Age with a Roman presence (English Heritage) and Ludlow Castle , Hereford Cathedral and the unique mediaeval Chained Library.
Bailey Barn gives you peace and quiet, a real taste of rural life, without feeling isolated. The village has a church and approx 20 houses, so is a very small community. Visit our Events Calendar , Attractions, Things to do for Free and Where to Eat pages for more ideas.

Description
The accommodation is on one level, on the first floor, reached by a staircase leading from the parking area. The stairs lead to a small landing. Straight ahead is the large double bedroom with a beautiful juliet balcony overlooking the garden and tennis court. The bedroom is light, bright and airy with plenty of storage. To the left off the landing is the main bathroom, with over bath shower, and next to this is entrance to the kitchen and the second bedroom. The second bedroom is a spacious single bedroom which is dual aspect and again overlooking the garden.
The galley kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen leads into the open plan sitting/dining room, the main feature being the beautiful georgian window, which lets light flood into the room. There is a dining table and chairs in the corner and a comfortable sofa and chair for relaxing. Bailey is very well laid out and is very light and bright throughout.
An excellent base for exploring this lovely, historic area.

"..what can I say about Bailey barn? The place was simply first class!! Our host was such a nice person welcoming and helpful nothing was to much trouble. Lot's of walks around the area, within easy reach of Bath, what more could you want."

"We had an enjoyable stay at Bailey Barn. The accommodation is to a high standard, very spacious and comfortable with all the facilities we needed for our stay. The decor is modern and tasteful whilst keeping in the 'barn' feel. We enjoyed the use of the tennis court and the pool - even our 9 month old son enjoyed splashing around! ...... The area is lovely and quiet but quite close to many places to visit - we visited Hay on Wye and the small breeds farm and owl sanctuary near Kington. There were lots of places to walk and generally enjoy the outdoors. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend this place to friends - and would return ourselves!"

"We had a lovely time and everything was great. Our hosts were charming and very welcoming..... We are sorry we missed them when we left, to say goodbye but did not want to disturb them."

"We had a lovely stay at Bailey Barn, a few minor problems were discussed with Charles on our departure, but as we explained, these didn't spoil our stay in any way. We particularly enjoyed the peaceful location, especially the gardens and the owners were very friendly upon our arrival. We would definitely consider staying there again in the future."
