Lake Retreat is nestled in a clearing, surrounded by woodland and farmland in the peace and quiet of the South Shropshire landscape. Situated equidistant between Cleobury Mortimer, famous for its church's crooked steeple, and Tenbury Wells, a small market town, Lake Retreat is tucked away in the corner of Shropshire, between the Clee Hills and the Wyre Forest. Ludlow, with it's fine dining restaurants, approx 12 miles (20 mins) away by car, has attracted greater fame, but this small, rural idyll overlooking Clee Hill remains a hidden gem that is especially worth seeking out. However, for everyday food, a short 5 minute drive will take you to several pubs such as The Crown at Hopton Wafers and the Live and Let Live at Neen Sollars, with others a little further away.

Description
Lake Retreat is on a private estate and is approached along a gated private road, about a third of a mile long. It is a bumpy farm track which takes you over an open field, across a ford (through a brook), and upwards between landscaped pools, open woodland and grassy openings. Very private, completely off the road, and extremely tranquil. Considerable thought and attention to detail has gone into landscaping, with careful planting and nurturing of existing woodland and shrubs adding to the effect of seclusion.
All on one level, once inside. On entering the retreat you come into an open plan kitchen, dining, living room area with a fully fitted kitchen and comfortable seating. Off this area is the bedroom which has a kingsize bed, across the hallway is the main bathroom with a shower over the bath. Further along the corridor, linking the kitchen/sitting room and the bedrooms, is the small second bedroom with bunk beds this has a WC and wash hand basin off the bedroom. The Utility room is at the back and can be accessed through a door from the outside, perfect for muddy dogs, or through the 2nd bedroom.
On arrival at the Retreat you will find tea, coffee and milk ready for that all important cup of tea or coffee, so you can start enjoying the peace and tranquility straight away.

"I just want to say a huge thank you to you for sorting out such a fantastic cottage! Lake Retreat is amazing, and me and my wife were in our element. Victoria couldn't have been more accommodating and with her friendly and relaxed nature made us both feel very welcome. We will recommend you and of course the Cottage to everyone. 10 out of 10!"

"We had an amazing week. Lake Retreat did not disappoint. The cabin was fitted to an excellent standard and all we needed for a week was provided. The grounds are beautiful and we found ourselves going out to explore the area but wanting to come back to the tranquility of Lake Retreat. I put in the owners comment book that if ever you dreamed of being Snow White this was the perfect location for that. It is really only designed for two adults and two children and as we were only a party of two adults that was fine. ...... I definitely would recommend this if peace and quiet is wanted and I would have no hesitation in going back. Booking through Country Holiday Lets was also easy and I would book through yourselves again."

"We really enjoyed our holiday at Lake Retreat. A unique place, so secluded and peaceful. The cabin is a model of good design and is light and airy, the decor is charming and understated. The owners still use and love this place and this has meant that the cabin is very well equipped; very much a home. Much thought has gone into the cabin and also into the grounds. The owners have recently planted a huge number of trees and shrubs, all of them beautifully labelled. If you enjoy gardening it is very interesting exploring all this new planting, seeing its great variety. The grounds are the stars of the show. The walk around the lakes was something we did at least once a day, weather permitting. Our first day at Lake Retreat was sunny and dry (the rest were cloudy and rainy) and on that day we enjoyed a row on the lake. The summerhouse was a huge hit with us all; my son really loved it. The owners were superb hosts, offering us an extra free day because we were asked to slightly change our booking dates. They gave us very good directions from the M5 to Lake Retreat and came to visit us with a little bag of very nice treats. We couldn't have asked for better attention. We would thoroughly recommend Lake Retreat."

"...Lake Retreat is a very special place with a unique character of its own. We had a lovely peaceful time in beautiful surroundings and it was just what we needed to recharge our batteries - we were reluctant to leave at the end of the week and I am sure we will be back. Victoria and Guy were good hosts and the lodge is well furnished and very comfortable. I could not fault anything! It is certainly the most impressive garden we have ever had - 2 pools and a waterfall - wow!"

"We had a wonderful week at the lodge and thought that the accommodation was superb. Everything that we needed was there and it was great to have plenty of crockery and cutlery. The lodge is in a beautiful setting and is completely tranquil and peaceful creating the perfect place to stay when you want to get away from it all. As a family we are lovers of nature and enjoy birdwatching and photography. We were able to watch nesting birds from the doorstep and I spent many evenings photographing the wild flowers and insects. The rowing boat was an added bonus and many evenings were spent having a row around the lake. All in all I must say that we thought that this was a perfect place to stay with plenty of attractions within easy reach, we will certainly consider coming back to visit you in the future."

"My wife and I enjoyed a lovely holiday staying at Lake retreat. We liked the "away from it all" feeling. The location was stunning. We were delighted with the number of attractions within the area. Shropshire is one of our favourite holiday regions. The accommodation was first class, no expense spared in equipping the lodge. We were very comfortable."

"We had a wonderful time at the Lodge; we couldn’t have had a warmer welcome with a few ‘goodies’ to make us feel at home. The cottage was immaculately presented and so well equipped, we couldn’t have asked for more. Although it’s a log cabin, it’s lovely and warm, which was a minor concern before we arrived. The setting is beautiful and so peaceful, we had a home away from home. We were glad that we didn’t take the dogs in the end as we would have been too worried that they might have made the place dirty.
All in all, we would highly recommend Lake Retreat and hope to return one day."
