Situated a few miles from Knighton, on the Shropshire/Powys borders, Sunnybank is set on the hillside with far reaching views, not far from the owners own beautiful Barn. It is the perfect spot for birdwatching, relaxing or exploring the countryside. Offas Dyke is across the valley and from Sunnybank there are many footpaths and routes that are ideal for walking and cycling, whatever your capabilities are. This area has miles of bridleways, away from any main roads, and so is wonderful horse riding country. The nearby town of Knighton (2miles) has several excellent pubs. There are several other places a short drive away Clun. Bucknell, Ludlow, all with historic interest. The local area features in Bruce Chatwin's 'On the Black Hill'.
This is an idyllic country retreat, any time of the year, there is plenty to see and do. Visit our Events Calendar , Attractions , Things to do for Free and Where to Eat pages for more ideas.

"We had a lovely week at Sunnybank. It was clean and comfortable and peaceful. It was perfect for our nervous new sheepdog, and great for walks....."

"We enjoyed our stay at Sunny Bank and the cottage had all the comfort we wished for. The country side did the rest. Next time nice warm weather please!"

"we had a wonderful short holiday in Shropshire and enjoyed the area very much. George, who owns Sunnybank was friendly and helpful and on the day we were due to leave invited us to join him in watching the Royal wedding which was very kind of him. Sunnybank is very tastefully done out and the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is adequately equipped and the sitting room is homey and comfortable. We enjoyed a couple of peaceful, balmy evenings eating on the veranda with beautiful views down the valley."

"We had a great time at Sunnybank and would recommend it to any of our friends. George was the perfect host and full of handy ideas of places to go. Everything was so clean and tidy and clearly well maintained"

"We enjoyed our stay enormously, we were able to have breakfast out on the balcony every morning, the valley is so warm and most definitely deserving of its name "Sunnybank". We woke on our first morning and were dismayed to see a hard frost, but within in an hour we were bathed in warm sunshine, very unusual for a March day in Wales. The views were lovely and calming, at times so quiet we couldn't hear anything except the birds. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to stay. We both likened it to being on a balcony in the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus."

"Sunnybank was the perfect getaway for us and to be in such a wonderfully secluded and private area was a blessing. George, the owner, was extremely welcoming and nothing was any trouble for him. The cabin was immaculate and we were very impressed with the facilities and decor. We loved it so much we are hoping to return in the summer!"

"Sunnybank was very satisfactory. Spotlessly clean and sufficient kitchen tools which is always important to the chef in the household! George is a very amicable host and nothing too much trouble. A very friendly pub in the village"

"We had a wonderful time at Sunnybank,. We were made most welcome by the owner, George, who gave us the "heads-up" on decent eateries, pubs & where to go for excellent local produce. The accomodation is probably the cleanest & most comfortable we have ever stayed in for this style of holiday. The peace & tranquility are second to none."

"Sunnybank was far better than we could of imagined. The lodge itself was in a fantastic position with views that had to be seen to be believed. The lodge was spotless and of a very high standard. Also if you could pass a thanks on to George who made us feel very welcome and pointed us in the direction of some wonderful places to visit and eat. Once again Thank You"
