Ludlow

7th - 9th September

Ludlow Food Festival

Ludlow Food and Drink Festival started in 1995 (see history ) and it's grown and grown ever since - not just in terms of numbers of visitors and exhibitors and events, but also in terms of reputation throughout and beyond the United Kingdom.

The objective has remained the same: celebrating the quality and diversity of the superb independent food and drink producers and suppliers that abound in Ludlow and the Marches. You won't find promotion of the globalised, standardised, industrially-produced products that you can find in every supermarket. What you will find here is an abundance of REAL food and drink - from rare breeds of meat to real ale, cider and perry, produced and sold by people who really care about what they are doing.

You'll also find that the festival is great fun. There's a brilliant atmosphere throughout the weekend that you won't forget. There really is something for everyone, from gourmet to sausage fan to beer lover. Once you've tried it you'll come to Ludlow again and again!

Doors open at 10am for shoppers, browsers and curiosity seekers. Free live acoustic music begins at lunchtime through until the evening, when we have the Saturday Sessions in the main globe. We're not your common-or-garden craft fair - more like contemporary arts, avant fashion and anything weird and wonderful. We're looking for diverse, unusual and quality stalls that are fired by imagination. Hands-on workshops run by our stallholders to give you an insight into their craft and ideas are central to Hay Fayre. Learn a new skill or make something mad in our workshop space in the heart of the Fayre. The Acoustic Tent will host musicians and performers in a colourful and intimate space, providing a varied programme of folk, blues, comedy and dance.

Comedy in the Castle

Ludlow Castle, Sunday 23rd September 2012, 7pm start

We are delighted to announce our line-up for the first Comedy in the Castle event, a superb group of comedians that will round out a great day. First off though, the evening's kicking off with the brilliant George Barnett, a local lad making good; performing with a full band, George will be playing tracks from his stunning debut album 17 Days in the magnificent surroundings of Ludlow Castle. He's starting the night's fun, so get there early because in years to come, he's going to be playing Wembley... When George finishes his set, our compère for the evening Toby Hadoke takes the reins to tickle our funny bones and also to introduce his fellow comics. The full line-up is... Toby HADOKE Dan NIGHTINGALE Holly WALSH and... GREG DAVIES We're hoping to have one more act confirmed before the event, but we can't say who that is just yet... It's a great line-up assembling to help us raise money for a great cause - Severn Hospice. Tickets for the evening's festivities are £20 plus booking fee, with the castle gates opening at 7pm. We estimate things will finish around 10:30pm.
