Hampton Court Castle is on the doorstep and a perfect place to visit any time of year. The Hampton Court Estate has a rich and fascinating history dating back to before the 15th Century. As recently as the turn of this century, it is believed to have extended to over 60,000 acres. The Gardens at Hampton Court Herefordshire, recently completed, are one of the most ambitious garden creations of our time. Original Victorian garden walls enclose stunning new flower gardens divided by canals, island pavilions and pleached avenues. The kitchen garden is an ornamental garden of fruit and vegetables. It is managed organically, supplying produce to the Orangery Restaurant for its seasonal menu. There is a maze of a thousand yews with a gothic tower at its centre. Climb to the top for a panoramic view of the gardens or descend underground to a tunnel that leads to a waterfall in the sunken garden. Beautiful herbaceous borders stretch out from a one hundred and fifty year old wisteria tunnel that leads to vast lawns and ancient trees beside the castle. Beyond the lawns are riverside and woodland walks.
Queenswood Country Park is also close by and has a stunning arboretum. Queenswood is the only designated Country Park in the County, it is home to a 67 acre tree collection (arboretum) with over 1,200 rare and exotic trees from all over the world and 103 acres of semi-natural ancient woodland which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Local Nature Reserve (LNR).
An ideal base for those wanting a complete break from it all. There is no need to travel anywhere if you don't want to, although within an hours drive are some of the area's leading attractions: Hereford with its Cathedral and famous Mappa Mundi is within 20 minutes drive. Leominster with it's Priory and locally owned shops is a very nice place to wander around, it is also the starting point for the Black and White Village trail only 20 minutes drive away. Ludlow (Church, Shops & Michelin Star restaurants), Ludlow Castle , Hay on Wye (bookshops galore) as well as independent shops, cafes and galleries.
Walking, cycling or riding or exploring the small market towns nearby, Serenity is perfect, whatever the season.

Serenity, in summer or winter, is a lovely peaceful place to enjoy a rural lifestyle with all its sights and sounds, including waking up to the sound of birdsong, although this may be a little early for some people!
April 2013 "We had a lovely week at Serenity, we found the cottage very clean and well equipped, beautifully warm and comfortable. We were impressed by the tidy, well maintained gardens surrounding the cottage and found the owners friendly and helpful.
We couldn't have had a more enjoyable week."
Dec 2012 "We had a great holoday at Serenity. Lovely location and the cottage itself was outstanding. We enjoyed the local pub...... Pat and Gill made us feel very welcome."
June 2012 "We had a fantastic time at Serenity Cottage in Vauld,Herefordshire. The cottage was warm and the decoration and furniture were new and spotless. It was the best place we have stayed at for a long time. The weather of course was wet and windy which was a shame because there were some lovely garden furniture to sit in the enchanting garden. We hope to return sometime in the future, a plus point is a local bus runs near the cottage and is very useful to see the area without taking your car out. The owners were friendly and helpful for local eating out places and pubs. There are lovely gardens to visit all in a short drive to get to from the cottage well worth a visit."
"I would really like to say how much my son and I enjoyed our stay in Serenity Cottage. Everything that we needed and more was provided in the cottage. Owners very friendly. As for the area, this was perfect, lots of quirky places to find on our days out. I would certainly recommend this as a holiday place and will hopefully be able to return next year."
"We had a great time at Serenity - the owners were very friendly and welcoming and the cottage itself was very comfortable and well equipped."
Tucked away in a little known area of The Vauld in North Herefordshire is this lovely cottage, Serenity. The area is unspoilt countryside but only a short drive from all the local amenities. The nearest market town is Leominster to the north, known for it's antique shops and the city of Hereford to the south. Serenity is located not far from the Marches Way so for walkers this place is ideal. Lockable storage for bikes is also available.
The nearest shop and pub is about a mile and a half away. The cottage limits it's carbon footprint as much as possible and uses the sun's energy for the hot water heating, amongst many other things.
